CDL CLASSES
Class A is the most widely obtained CDL, as it allows you to drive the widest variety of vehicles. Drivers with a Class A license can operate semi-trucks, double and triple tractor trailers, flatbeds, livestock carriers, passenger vehicles (16 or more passengers including the driver), buses, and more.
Once you have your CDL A license, you can earn endorsements to drive specialty vehicles, which results in higher pay. Class A license holders qualify to drive Class B and C vehicles.
Class B is defined as a single vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
Class C vehicles carry 16 or more passengers or transport hazardous materials in quantities that require a placard.
